CARRARA MARBLE
1945-1977

In 1949, Carrara Marble ran the fastest 6 furlongs that had ever been run on American turf (click on picture below). He had tremendous speed and passed it on to his offspring. Carrara Marble may very well have been one of the best thoroughbreds stallions to influence the quarter horse breed, carrying that great blood of Bull Dog, yet his opportunities were limited. He was the sire of 50 TB foals, 47 starters and 40 winners who won 207 races and setting new track records
earning over $500,000.

Carrara Marble was crossed on quarter horse mare for the first time in 1969. He is the sire of 50% winners from starters, 20% ran AAA/AAAT including Mrs. Becky Marble AAAT stakes placed; Becky Marble AAA Stakes Winner, Jay Marble si 109; etc. He is also the sire of horses that have earned AQHA Working points, as well.

"Marble" probably made his greatest contribution as a maternal grandsire with 54% of his daughters' get earning their ROM and 28% running AAA/AAAT with 5 Superior Race horses landing him on the Leading Maternal Grandsire list in the '70's.
